Default Valve adjustment on 06 Rubicon

Is adjusting the valves on the 06 Rubicon difficult? What should they be adjusted to? I have noticed a lot of noise in the engine at 3/4 to full throttle. Is this common with the Rubicon or do the valves just need to be adjusted? I have about 200 miles and 30 hours on the quad.

Thanks,

Default Valve adjustment on 06 Rubicon

.006 intake and .009 exhaust with engine cold, I believe.

It's not a bad job. The worst part is getting the bodywork and what not off to get to the head.

There is an inspection hole in the side of the motor covered with a chrome allen head cap. Turn the motor slowly with the pull starter until you see a "T" stamped in the flywheel through the hole, which will indicate the piston is at top dead center.

If both rockers are loose, the piston is at the top between compression and power stroke, you are ready to check the valve gap.

If both rockers are tight (no play), then the piston is between exhaust and intake stroke, and the valves are in overlap. You will need to rotate the motor one turn until the T is back and there is play in the rockers before you check the gap.

The first adjustment is due at 100 miles or 20 hours, then every 600 miles or 100 hours.
