Default Differential Fluid

On the 93 fourtrax 300 4x4 what goies in the diff ? regular gear oil of what weight or what , I can't seem to find anything on it anywhere .

80W90 "hypoid" gear oil. (Either GL4 or GL5...I think?????) It doesn't take much. At your Honda dealer it will be called "shaft drive oil".

Sometimes the clutch packs on these old machines will stick (it will act like it has lockers...hard to steer), and you will need to add a little friction modifier to free things up.

That is funny you mention the hard to steer part , mine started to do that last night ...Anyways , thanks alot ......

Ask the dealer about the friction modifier. I don't know what it takes or how much.

I will ask them , I also need to know exactly how much motor oil it holds , and what to put in the transfer case , it appears to be almost empty when I checked it an hour ago

I haven't ridden one of these in years. I can't recall that they have a transfer case?????

Left side in front of engine , complete seperate unit .... I will be using 85-140 gear oil in diffs and transfer cause I have about 10 gallons of it round the barn that needs to be used , not thick at all , very thin ... I think it will work .
