Never Get A RINCON Soriest Peice of Junk
Had an 03 Rincon but had it stolen from me in Feb. 2006. I replaced it with an 06 BRP Outlander 800XT. I miss my Honda. I had 5200 miles or so on it when it was stolen. I had just replaced the rear wheel bearing. One was starting to go, so I replaced both at once. That was the extent of my issues in 3 and a half years. The bike was flawless otherwise. When new, I raced an 03 Grizz, 02 Sportsman 700, and an 03 Prarie 650. I held my own, but the Prarie would always be the quickest off the line and get 4-5 bikelengths. Then we would all stay pretty even. I can say that my bike held up as well as all these bikes if not better. The suspension was excellent, the brakes were great, and the power was decent but not exhilerating.
Now I have had the Outtie 800 for a year. I have 1530 miles on it. I have already gone through brake pads. Kind of ironic on a machine with engine braking. And the brakes are very weak. They are not powerfful enough to lock up the tires! I had to replace the fuel pump as my fuel guage was reading low fuel after using a gallon of gas. I had to replace my water pump as it was not working properly. The main shaft bearing or seal in the pump let go. Only on back order for 1 month. Also had to replace something in the clutch. Bike was at dealership 1 month. I have also had some of the electrical issues with my winch that many have reported. My speedo fogs up in the winter and cannot be read. That is only when the speedo is working though.
I also had to add a steering stabilizer. The kickback in the steering was unbearable. Add $500 to cost of bike. Front and rear shocks are junk! They bottom out regularly in front and in back. I have 14 inch XTR's on my machine in the winter and am wearing the inside of the fender extensions. There is a round cut out in it from tire rubs. Add $1000 to $1500 to the cost of the bike. But the power is awesome and addictive.
A couple of friends that had their atv's stolen at the same time as me have fared no better. They each had Grizzly's. They replaced them with 06 Brute force 750s in June 06. One hated it enough to trade it in for an 07 Grizz 700 efi. The other held on to his Brute to get it up to about 800 mile just the see the rings let go! They wish they had their old bikes back as well.
Bottom line is you got a lemon, which is rare by Honda. I hope you have better luck with your next machine. Because other manufacturers are typically going to be less reliable than Honda.
