If we are talking about the sport quads, I would absolutely disagree. My 400EX is about as ultimately reliable as a machine can get.
If we are talking about the utilities with automatic transmissions, or the ES shifting system on the manual trans machines....my gut feeling is that I just want to stay away from these things!
The one exception is fuel injection. It is actually way more simple than a carb (just because something is "electronic" doesn't make it bad...as long as it is reliable and functions properly), and time will tell us how ultimately reliable it will be...but so far looks real good!

I wont argue the fact that FI with todays technology is reliable.
But more simple that a carb ? I would love to hear your explanation of how.

I will have to agree with Recon here on the fuelie thing. Way less issues than carbs have put us techs up against. Especially when it comes to old stale gas and its affect on the components where fuel resides.
Also I feel liquid cooled quads will outlast the air cooled engines of old.

My question who in the heck needs Power Steering on a ATV ?? Easiest thing to turn as it is . Just plumb stupid if you ask me ...
I prefer the older quads myself , very reliable and the carbs are easy as heck to work on ...

First off, if one is so weak that they need power steering, they should be at the gym working out and not out riding a quad. From what I have read, the power steering unit reduces feedback from the trail, through the handlebars. Nice idea, but I think I can do the same thing with a simple little steering damper!
