Hey Honda Lovers-Had my second ride on my 300ex!
What a blast and what a difference from my Recon!
Not only have I learned to to donuts, now I am not afraid anymore... I can go nuts on it and not worry about tipping over. At first I was afraid to go out of third gear, but by the end of the ride I was fishtailing all the way down the road!
Hubby took some action pictures and as soon as I get them developed I will put them on a web-page.
Thanks everyone for all of your advice, especially you lady riders. For without it, I don't think I would have tried the 300ex. Now I wouldn't ride anything else, except maybe my hubbys 400ex! But as small and old as I am, the 300 suits me fine.
And I can even shift without killing the engine now! LOL...
Happy New Year, and happy trails...

lilgirlblue...before you know it you will be giving your hubby's 400ex a run for the money!!!! I am glad you are getting a feel for the quad and tearin' up on it!!!! It's it the most fun you have ever had?? Hurry with those pictures!!!
girlatvr2...the 300ex and the 400ex for that matter are neither tippy nor top heavy. They both handle like a dream and are magnificent trail quads!!!! Learning to shift is EASY!!!! If I can learn..anyone can learn!!! If you are thinking of getting a 300ex..you won't be sorry. I did like my 300ex when I had it.
Later ..... Sherri

Hey girlatvr2! It only took me a few minutes to learn how to use the clutch. I have driven a manual transmission in my car, and I did ride a motorcycle when I was younger. But... I didn't remember how to do it very well. Once I got on the 300ex, it was a breeze. I must admit, aside from my hubbys 400ex, it is the best bike I have ever rode. It it not top-heavy. In fact, I noticed that you have a bayou 220 and a Lakota Sport? The Lakota was another of the quads I was thinking of buying when I bought my 300. In my opinion (only an opinion, not knocking anyones quad), I felt the 300ex rode much smoother than the Lakota. I have arthritis in both my neck and my arms, and I needed something that would steer easily and soak up the bumps on the trails that we ride. And we ride lots of bumpy trails! I was concerned about the shifting, but once I tried it, I found I could easily get used to it. All in all, the 300ex is a great quad and if you get one I don't think you will be sorry.
Happy New Year & Happy Trails!

00 400ex (his)
01 300ex (mine and loving it!)

Hey Sherri... Happy New Years! I think this is the most fun that I have ever had. My hubby just came in and he has my quad out there, not his! I think I am jealous, he likes my quad more than he does me... NOT! He says mine does donuts better than his... Na-Na... Na-Na! Not fair, I cannot go back outside! He came in to find something to put on his face cause it is only -5 degrees outside with the wind. Anyway, sent ya some pics, getting a site set up now. Happy Riding! Jude
