What would be the best carburator to get for a 300EX? Or the best mods to make to the one that is already on there?

I think the stock carb works great. I run a complete TC330 motor and have my "stock" carb taper-bored too 34mm. I race both MX and XC and haven't had any problems. A machine shop shouldn't charge you more than $15 bucks for the work. Best of all, you keep your "stock" components intact for better re-sale value down the road.
