i want to get a cr 250 but my friend knows someone who has one, and said it pulls whellies in every gear with all his wheight to the front . im 14 but experinced, i am about 160 lbs. is it a good bike for me to get. would a crf 450 be any diffrent

my buddy has both and the 450 kills the 250 2-stroke.the onyl time he gets on his cr250 is when his crf450 is broke. the only thing the cr250 is going to be better for is if you get crazy freestyle. like indoor x-games type of stuff.

The CRF's are high strung engines, and require diligent maintenance. Rebuilds will be much simpler on the 2-stroke CR vs the 4-stroke CRF!
If you have a limited budget or are a maintenance slacker, get the 2-stroke.

Not sure about the ATVs but when I go to the motocross races on the weekends it seems 50/50 if a CR250 2 stroke or the 450 4 stroke will beat each other out.

Just so happens I own both.
No offense, but if you have to question how these machines will react, you aren't experienced enough to operate them. They are definately as high strung as they come.
But if you must know, if you are getting one to play around or trail ride, go with the 2 stroke, they are more reliable and much easier to maintain. If you are just riding track, it'd be hard to pass up a CRF450.
But if I could only pick one bike to have if I have a budget, it'd be the CR250.

there must be some good 2-stroke rider in your area. the 450 should kill the 250. this is why you will never see anyone ride a 250 in the motocross anymore. well atleast not on a regular basis.

It's all rider man. It doesn't matter if I ride the 250 or the 450, I'm probably going to wind up in the same finishing position. The only difference is I make less mistakes on the 450.

tell you what man, you are going to get people all day long going for one or the other. it depends on what you want it for, like bigned1904 said what do you want to use it for. i have owned both as well. the 4 stroke it a lot more motor, but because it is a four stroke it is more balanced and cannot be thrown around as easy, but easier to control. where as a 250 is light and snappy, easy to throw around, but not all the bike that the 450 is. for your age and size, that 450 will scream. i am 6ft 235lbs and my bike was awsome fast. i have raced for a lot of years and the guys that i race with on 2 strokes cannot keep up on the straight aways. pretty even in tight turns, but they all want to sell there 2 strokes and get 450's. that is wherer the inustry is going. and the 450 is much nicer in the dunes to. good luck
