The Rubi was on the top of my wish list also, until I heard the price. I refuse to pay $10,500 for it when the Sportsman or Arctic Cats are $1500 less! The Rubi may be a nice machine, but I'm not convinced its worth that much more. And why is it so much more in Canada when the prices are more competetive in the states? If Honda wants to pull a money grab, I'll take my money elsewhere.

Honda dealers sell Rubicons for the same price as a Sportsman 500s in the states . Since the Sportsman 500s sell for $8400 in Canada than paying anymore than $8400 for a Rubicon has to be a rip off attempt by your dealer. You can buy Artic Cat,Suzuki 500s and even a 600 Grizzly for less than the Sportsman's $8400.The Polaris and Honda dealers must pay the same for the two bikes and the SP makes there dealer a profit at selling for $8400 but the Honda dealer just wants a much larger profit. Even if they sell a Rubicon at $9000 it is still a scam.Heck even a 500 Traxter is selling for only $8500 here now and it was for sale at $9500 when they first came out.

I sure hope Honda reads these forums. Seems to me many potential customers have strong negative feelings about the list price of the Rubicon. As an owner of a couple Honda cars, this type of pricing realy shakes my loyalty. I'd be hard pressed by buy a Rubi for around $10.5K, even though I'm definately in the market for a big bore this year.

Honda Canada's Public Relations has confirmed that the "unofficial" suggested list price for the Rubi is $10,500 , and the dealers out this way are sticking to it.
Some of you guys are quoting lower prices that don't seem to be available out our way. If you have any proof of these prices, such as dealer ads on the net, I'd sure like to see them. I'd appreciate you posting any links, or scanned ads, that I could take to our dealer and confront him with.

A couple of different comments.
The dealers aren't necesarily the ones doing the ripping off. They have to buy the bikes from the distributers, and their prices have to reflect what they pay.
I don't think it's fair to compare the situation in the US with the situation here. After all, they've had their Rubicons in the States for months now, so it's clear that Honda thinks the market south of the border is more important than the market here. This could explain why the price is more competitive there than here.
Also, I think the dealers would be silly to sell the quad for any less than 9500-10,000$, cause they are going to sell every single one that they bring in, and they know it.
And for every one who's getting all ticked off that ATV Action has declared the Rubicon the newest king, you can say to the Honda people that their quad should be better with the price they had to pay for it. At that kind of price it should make you coffee in the morning, and do the dishes afterwards.

I bought one before christmas in West Virginia. The cost was $6500 out the door. I'm sure glad they don't cost that much here.

I think your right .If the other companies knew someone would buy their 500's for $1500-$1000 more than they cost now, they would try it to.
