Get the 400ex. I dont care what LTZ GUY says. get the ex. LTZ GUY here you are again downgrading every other machine in the world. First Polaris, then yammi's, now HONDA!!

You must be either nuts or 12 yrs old. What Honda dealership do you work for, so I can call and question your training. I dont work on motors for a living but, It is a major hobby in my life. HONDA machines may not be the fastest stock machines out there, but their reliability and design are unmatched. That is why the 250r is the most copied frame design ever.

Back on topic. Get the 400ex. Get it ported,12:1 JE piston, put a web cam in it, Lectron carb, do some mods to the pipe.(pm me for info) stock pipe for the 400ex with a couple of mods is just as good as any aftermarket for this machine. And yes you are leaving the spark arrestor in. No big bore kits. They are not worth the money for their power gain.

With this setup and proper gearing it will do anything you will need it to for many reliable yrs. to come

All the mods I listed would cost about 1200 bucks. A very low budget, with a high reward. Do it over time. Porting first. Then cam and valve springs, then piston, last the carb. Believe me you wont be dissapointed. Before I went to a high end pipe on my 250, my friends 400 I built like this would stand beside me until 6th gear. It would run with piped banshees until they hit 6th, and would beat them to 300ft everytime.

if you do all that to the motor it will be up to par but the suspestion on the ltz400 is better than the 400ex. i whould get the ltz400 put a air filter and pipe on it and be done with it. if you need more power after that then think about putting a piston in it but i whould not recomend getting into the motor before doing some serious riding on it.

I really dont see that much of a difference between the two suspensions in stock form. Maybe a little more comfortable but in performance, both need aftermarket suspensions for racing

im not going to be racing just trail riding with friends and practicing on the local track thats it
but probably the first thing im going to do is change the air filter get a pipe and get nerf bars
i dont want to mess with the motor yet i want to wait a while after i get it
and i have alredy decided on the z400
im tired of everyone saying o the honda is faster with this and that because so will the z400 if i do that stuff to it
i just want something that i can take out and be fast already and not have to dump more money into

woah calm down man, I'm just trying to give you some unbiased advise. Both of the machines you are talking about are good machines. I just feel a 400ex is a better, easier to maintain, first machine. The 400ex also likes to be lugged down at low rpms which is a plus for the trails.
