250EX vs. 300EX?
#11
I'd go for the 300ex just because it's got everything that the 250ex has and more. If you want shaft drive than go for it. I'm about 5 10 and the 300ex seems small but that's what i like about it. It makes it funner through the tight woods. If you really want a fast sport quad with everything these two have and tons more get the 4000ex.

I have a 400ex and am over 6'2 and weigh 170. The 300ex isn't a whole lot smaller than the 400ex. On long trips, I get cramped, but for playing around, I love the small size, and can handle it a lot better than my dads polaris sport. the 250ex is probably similar in size to the recon. I had a recon before my ex, and it was definetly smaller. My legs cramped up on long trips and I was only 5'10(grew a bit scence then)When I had my recon, I went 4-wheeling with a guy with a 300ex, and it was a bit bigger then the recon. I like both the 250 and 300ex's, but would probably go with the 300ex because it has more suspension, and you will be able to go up hills a bit faster because of a 53cc displacement advantage. Lots of hop-up parts avaliable for it as well.and I am guessing it is a bit bigger.

I have been riding a '99 Recon for the past two years and love it. Obviously, it is real close to the 250EX just slightly different. Its a simple, low maintenance atv, but Im to the point where I want more. Im waiting to buy a 400EX sometime this year I hope. My advice to you would be to decide where you want to stop (which you said would be with the 400EX) and purchase the next smaller quad which in your case is the 300EX. I understand the 400EX is more expensive, but stop and think before you buy. If there is any doubt that you might want it later, then you will not be completely satisfied with the 300EX. My rule of thumb is if you dont get what you want the first time, you will never be satisfied until you get it, and you cant make money upgrading from atv to atv. Good luck.

Amen to my brother Chevelle. I bought a 2000 Blaster last year and almost as son as I got used to riding it I wished I had really got what I wanted. A Banshee. Well I bit the bullet, took the loss and got what I wanted!! A new 2001 Yamaha Banshee. I should have done this in the first place, I just didn't want to spend the extra money, when actually it cost me more in the long run. I don't know your riding experience but for your size I would just step up and get the 400ex from the start, it is an awsome bike, if I wasn't a 2stroke man I would have bought one myself.

No offence but you guys keep on saying that the 300EX is faster than the 250EX wich is wrong it was clocked at 52mph and if you ever read ATV mags you'd know that the 300EX was also clocked at 52mph so it all comes down to which one you fit on better. Go to your local Honda dealer and sit on them both see wich one you like the most and buy.
