Default Honda Rancher 2007 will not shift

This is my son's 2007 Rancher 4x4. He has ridden it pretty hard. Recently, while he was riding, when he would go to shift to another gear, the trans would not go right into gear then it would kinda jerk into it, not a smoothe transition.
Now I think he is saying the transmission seems like it is lock up?

Is this possible or could it be an electrical problem with the electric shift?

Should this still be under warranty? He bought it new back in February '07

Thanks

Better hurry, if the warranty is 6 months you might just have time to squeeze in???? Some components may be covered by a recall, even if off warranty.

This is why I always recommend that folks get the foot shift model, and pass up the ES. We are seeing an unusualy number of this type of post lately. But, mostly folks buy whatever is sitting there on the dealer's floor, and they don't think about that kind of detail.....

Yeah. At least one person gave some constructive advise instead of an unsolicited opinion.

If your son doesn't have the factory service manual, I do and can scan & send any needed pages.

He wants to take it to a dealer after this weekend, but if you do have the pages and will send them to me I would appreciate it. I might can look at it this weekend before Tuesday.

Thanks

If the gearshift indicator isn't flashing a code then the problem probably isn't in the ESP system ...

I had the same problem with mine its at the dealer right now for the 2nd time what happens is water gets in there and doesnt let it shift right and it jams. Its not under warranty. Mine was so bad that the guy kept bugging honda to replace the whole system and he was gunna make it so water or anything cant get in there.
