You Honda guys have got to get over that a gear driven quad is better then a CVT for ute's. How many ATV companies are out there, yet all but Honda use CVT. Are they all wrong and Honda right, not even close. Who make the utes with the least power, Honda. So every make has more power and uses CVT's and do quite well. When was the last time a Honda won a mud bog, a trailer pull, and drag race or any other kind of ute raceing? I can't think of any. But who does win all these, quads with CVT's. Honda sales continue to slip, and with the 08's, they will continue even more. My dealer has so many Honda's on the showroom floor it's scary. They have to give huge discounts just to sell them. And even the dealer says they need to get with the times. They have the least features, least power, and worst ride of any other, yet they have the highest price tag. Only true die hard Honda guys keep buying them, but many are just getting sick of being beat by others and are leaving Honda.

See, not all quad owners compete with their quad. They use them for Farming, Ranching, Construction, Surveying etc...
What these consumers are looking is cost of operation per hour. It reflects at the end of the year or quarterly, however they look at their business financial. I know I posted this under a sport quad topic, the topic has been swayed to ATVs use in general for comparing suspentions, drive systems etc...
CVT transmissions (belt drive) are ok, lightweight etc, I just have never seen a bulldozer that uses one. They have their place in certain units.
Drive train issues with Hondas have a low cost to operate. I will not comment on the electrical function of drive components. We all know they have their issues. Every MFG has their own issues, I will not set here and bash them over it though.
Sure can't wait to ride the new 700 though. Many of my competitors (Mini Sprint) are running rear wishbone independant rear where we have running live axles for years. They are getting hard to catch with their IRS

By the way TLC how many 5 speeds have you replaced on your Foreman??????
By the way I know people with 2000 miles on a belt and 20 miles off the show room floor. So I all ready see the good and bad of autos. Also the 500 Suzuki Vinson 5 speed according to the Mags was better than the auto version. So why don't the offer a 5 speed in a bigbore? There is a serious market for both, but instead of offering both we get auto shoved down are throats!!!

But, knowing Honda they will take it to Baja (one time only though!) in November and win on it anyway, just like they did with the Rincon!</end quote></div>
Can you ditch the whole Baja deal already? No-one runs the Baja anymore. Only a hand-full show up and if a real effort shows, they usually win.....hence the Rincon winning. Waits for response from guy in rose colored shades.
On topic, eventually the solid rear axle will be gone. Wait until we are offered adjust on the fly left and right rear suspension. We are just on the tip of whats available there.

You can release all the IRS machines you want, they'll still be in the back of the pack for those of us on the flat tracks.
IRS may be the "wave of the future" but they've got a long way to go until they'll be able to out handle an SRA on something other than a rutted GNCC track. Don't get me wrong they can do it just like IRS did on the street, it's just way too early in the development for everyone to switch over tomorrow.

gary-Obviously you don't ride desert, so desert racing doesn't mean anyting to you....just like all those eastern woods races (what this 700 was obviously built for!) don't mean anything to me!
Baja is the superbowl to us desert riders....while the rest of you go wallowing in your mud holes....
