I know looks are subjective but I personally think the new 700XX, Big Red and 400EX look pretty awful. If I could do a poll I would because I'm curious as to how appealing these styles are to the majority of riders?

i dont like them either. styling looks 'artificial' at best. reminds me of power rangers for some reason... also why make a machine so heavy that is not even 4wd??? if they had just made a 700ex or xx with SRA would have been better idea and direct competition with the raptor. for that weight, the renegade is looking allot better to me. the weight did state that it was all fluids... so maybe 20+ pounds lighter without? still over 500lbs... wheres the aluminum, honda? if you are going to do this it needs to be something that has > or = competition; im just not seeing anything that makes it above the rest. well i guess the only and i mean only plus is that it is a 5speed manual.... but whats glaring at me is that i see an overweight, cost cutting, weird looking attempt to compete against the raptor/outlaw; engeneering's wacked effort, intruded upon by management to create a let down to the atv enthusiast.

It takes something like 5 years from conception to get a quad finished and released. I think Honda's marketing research 5+ years ago indicated that a IRS sport quad was something the public wanted. In the mean time, the Outlaw came out and every body realized (with a yawn), that it wasn't really all that fabulous a concept, except maybe for deeply rutted eastern trails.

They went and made the front end tall, and put a bumper on it that looks like the KFX700...ugly!

your math is a little off there. 508 minus 20+ equals 488 or less...

I think the BigRed is off target in the cosmetics department, but that machine hasnt reached the production phase yet and the pics floating around have a fiberglass body that Honda has confirmed as not being finallized yet. Also, we do not know what it will look like with the doors,..that Honda has also confirmed it will include before production. So I say still too early to tell,..but soon enough to say that so far, it isn't appealing to many at all.

On the 700XX, the pics on Honda's site APPEARS to make the quad seem very tall and clumsy looking but it doesnt sit much different in stance than the 400EX really. From those who I have talked to, the vote on looks is about a 50/50 split, but I can say that as many orders Honda is getting for them, and a sellout predicted before they even begin shipping, they must not have gotten the design off by too much of what people are seeking. Personally speaking however,...I think it is a design that is ok and one that will take time to grow on me...much like the 2001 Raptor660...which almost everyone on this forum flamed for months until they saw one in person. lol

And for the 400EX, I think that bodywork looks very good and fits along the lines of what the other guys are using for the most part. The 450R design works well as a package, but I personally like this new 400EX look a little better. Just remains to be seen if the "improved" ergos translate into improved ergos on the trail.

Most definitely, hopefully they modify it a bit in upcoming years and turn it into something awesome.
