Default 250x question

hi all. Finally got the bike to spark, had to replace the wire harness the old one was butchered beyond compare. Previous owner has removed the key switch and the run/kill switch and replaced with a tethered kill switch. I believe the switch may be bad. Should the bike run with those wires wired together or with them not hooked together. Also while working on the bike I pulled the left cover off to remove the stator and was wondering if there should be oil in there? The stator and flywheel were covered in oil. This would make it hard to start, right? ANy ideas?

The two ignition wires should be together to run.
I cant remember if that machine has a wet or dry stator, sorry... old age kicking in.

it is a wet stator, you are fine. That setup is better IMHO.
As for the kill switch. You got a 50/50 chance

yes, the stator is wet, but on the 250x, i believe the ignition is normaly open. i'll have to check my wiring diagrams, but if i remember correctly, i just unplugged my ignition/kill switch and the bike ran fine.
