Brand Unconcious

I responded to the "age" post yesterday. I always figured some of you guys were a lot yonger (chronologically) than I am. I don't list all the bikes, 3 and 4 wheelers because it would make a post looking like what some add to their one four wheeler. We (me and my three kids) started on Honda 90 and 110's. I bought in '82 the first 250r and then another in 83,84,85,and the first water pumper ( i think was a '86) we also had two 200x's, a 350x, four 3004x4's, two 250r 4wheelers '87and'88 and one we put a cr500 engine in, a Tecate 250 4wheeler (87 i think), one suzuki 230 quadrunner and a yamaha 350 bear. Of all these wheelers (and we rode every weekend) I did'nt have a lemon in the bunch.
NOW; In '99 honda did'nt have a water cooled, automatic, 500cc 4x4 and I did'nt want a foreman like everyone else. I bought a 500 sp from Polaris and you would think I married out of my caste and changed religion at the same time.
This is a GREAT wheeler with absoluteley no problems in 1300 hard miles. I admit i gave Polaris owners some grief myself but I do understand why they are so defensive. Could it be I am a Honda man who ownes a Polaris? Seriously I have taken such a slaming From my riding buddies that I thought about getting a Ruby. I am so damn stubborn that I'll probably keep this one longer than I ordarnily do..By the way, at the Little Sahara my sons buddies referred to it as the Hummer because of the size and the 4 wheel independant. I am trying to say that I am not to brand concious but have purchased more Hondas than anything. If you guys don't try something else every once in a while you will certainly miss something. I also believe that this competion among manufactrues has benefitted us all. Remember the first wheelers suspension was the tires and no brakes on front. Enough of this......I just wanted to vent.

I will agree with your statement about trying something else. My next quad sometime this spring will something besides a Honda probably a Prairie 650.
I really enjoy my Honda's & have had no problems with them & maintenance is easy. I owned Kawasaki & Yamaha products growing up.
People become brand loyal to all types off things such as trucks, snowmobiles, stereo equipment, clothes, etc. this isn't bad either.
Good luck with your Polaris. Polaris is working hard to remove the poor quality stigma that it has had in the past.
