just talked to TC racing
#1
he told me
90 for the piston(2mm over true 300)
200 cam/springs
235 carb(a lot again)
500 headwork and boring(thats a lot of money when trinity does it for 300)
he said that will give me around 35 hp..at the crank? i dunno. Seems exgarrated
but thats a boat load of money. He just seems to me like such a *****. He told me, yeah, that super trap pipe is junk. My pipe is the only one that does any good out there. I was like oh yeah?
I don't think they will be doing my work!

DGBlaster;
I have talked with 8 shops about head work and more torque for my XC 400EX and all of them accept for two acted like they wanted to sell me the moon! THEN, I talked to TOM from TC racing today and I asked him how much to port my head and a valve job...GUESS WHAT, HE was the ONLY one to say...Don't port your head for XC. In fact he told me not to do all of the mods I was planning on doing and only go with a cam, lightened flywheel and if the cylinder needed some work, only then to increase displacement.
I was planning on spending about $850 and he said not to do all of that and spend about $300 on a cam, fly wheel, a piston and valve seals.
I Know a little about motors and this guy help to set me straight. I do know what you mean about his pipe, but he helped everywhere else.
Thought I would let you know that. If you want to know the other shops I talked, email me. I don't want to openly bash them on here, unless you ask me directly, then I will let it all out.
Good Luck, re thank your decision.

Performance wise, Tom's pipe does make your SuperTrapp, my WhiteBrother's and anything else seem like junk. Tom takes a SuperTrapp pipe, cuts it down(making it a shorty), removes all of the silencer packing, changes some internal baffles, and adds a new end-cap.(cost $350) The pipe is very, very free flowing, and will out-perform any "big name" pipe out on the track.
What's the down side? It is extremely LOUD! For race purposes only, the TC pipe would be great. But for weekend trail riders, the LOUD tone and no spark arrestor are not for you.
Tom is a great guy. He is not a salesman by any means. If fact, it almost seems like you have too twist his arm too place an order. He doesen't try too talk you into any parts that you don't need. Some of his work may cost more, but you are getting a quality product that wouldn't let you down in the long run. Remember....you get what you pay for....
The only down side about Tom. Sometimes he takes awhile getting you your order.(but who hasen't waited weeks and months for performance quad parts before?)

CStark - I agree with you completely! What other engine builder(4 stroke) has as many championships under their belt as TC? You may have to spend a little extra cash and wait a little longer, but hell you get a quality product!!
I am not openly bashing any other ocmpany because most of them have good products, but I have been around racing for a long time and I think if you want to win, you need to go TC!
By the way Chris, when are you going to get some details on your new TC engine on your site?? I am anxiously waiting! Or you could just describe them here and let us know how it is working out!!

Tom from TC helped me out ALOT! I told him i wanted to set my 300 up for CC but i didnt want to bore it out just yet. He told me what i had to do and what i didnt. He did tell me that my pipe was worthless too but hey what can you expect when 9 out of the top 10 4-stroke racers have a TC pipe?
