All quads in Canada are over priced compared to prices in the states, but Honda seems to take it a step further.
You might know that the Canadian dollar is now about $0.98USD, (i think that was when it closed on wednesday) and yet all the manufacturers are still charging AT LEAST 30% more for a quad in Canada than in the USA. Need examples?
(i rounded the prices, so give or take a dollar[usually take])
TRX450ER (or trx450r electric start as it says on the american site)
USA: $7000
Canda: $10200
TRX400EX
USA: $6000
Canada: $8340
TRX300EX
USA: $5000
Canda: $7200
TRX250EX (worst offender)
USA: $4000
Canada: $6530- That is a ratio of 1.6325!!!! And the dollar is almost parallel.
What do you guys think of this? Isnt it stupid?

Well, possibly the dealers had bought the bikes when the US/CAN dollar were at a different level. I doubt they just bought them Wednesday afternoon.
But there still is room for them the drop the price a little.
Did you ask the dealer to drop the price? More importantly, are you serious about buying?
Nothing makes a price drop like having cash, or being pre-approved for a loan.

Isn't there a free trade agreement??? Can't you just buy one down here and take it back...no big deal??? My neighbor has a summer home up there in the Rocky Mountains, and he bought down here and leaves them up there.......
I'm a former Canadian, and I would never go back because of taxes/economic issues. But give Hillary Clinton enough time, and she will have us socialized and taxed just like up there, and ruin this country too!

Is there no tarriffs anymore if i were to buy a quad south of the border?
Taxes in Canada dont seem too bad as far as i know.... only 6% General Sales Tax (GST) and 8%Provincial Sales Tax (PST) in ontario. But if you own a farm, you can say its for farm use and then you can get some of the taxes back at the end of the year- As long as it has a rack on it, so if you're buying a $10300 quad (yep thats the canadian msrp price for a 700raptor SE) just get the dealer to install racks on it for maybe 150 or something (i have no idea how much they are) but you end up saving about $1500 because of the tax savings
-dont take my word for it though, i really dont have a clue exactly how it works

It's not just Honda, and Honda isnt as bad as any other OEM. For example....
Last week I needed to have a tire sent from American Suzuki to a consumer in Alabama for the rear of a M109R. Suzuki has a contract with Dunlop on this tire concerning it's manufactuer AND it's distribution....at least for the time being. Well, American Suzuki had them on backorder (makes alot of sense being a tire that you MUST buy from them to ride at all) and they didnt know when they would be getting them. After a few chosen words of what I thought of such a shananigan by an OEM, they had one sent to him from Suzuki of Canada. I dont remember the exact costs, but I do remember that it was nearly a $50.00 difference,....for a TIRE. Not including the special freight charges from Canada.
So while a few hundred may appear to be big issue concerning an entire ATV purchase,....50 bucks more just for a tire makes a complete ATV purchase look like a steal!!
