The Rubicon absolutely, positively, definitely does NOT have brake lights.

I was thinking of converting my Rubicon's taillights to brake lights- It should be possible since there is a switch on the brake system (for the front brake lever) that allows you to start the Ruby when not in neutral. I don't really see the need for taillights as I do not ride at night and brake lights would be much more useful. That is one area that Polaris does have a leg up on Honda.

I had the same question when I got mine last spring, what I was told is that most of them don't except for the one's sold in one or two states back east were they are required to come with brake lights.
As for using the handle switch if I recall correctly it only has power to it when you are pushing the start button.

I ended up getting a brake switch from the dealer that conects to the foot brake pedal and putting on a seperate light for the brake. This way I have the brake light and the tail light so I am legal on the street.
Hope this helps.

Does anyone know what states the above person is referring to? If so I could contact a dealer in one of those states and ask them if they have part #'s to add brake lights. I have never heard of this requirement and hope someone on this forum has and knows which states require this.
Thanks

Stumpjumper its hard for me to believe that by adding a brake light to your ATV you are street legal now as you put it.

Had to add a horn, brake light, insurance and license plate already had tail lights thats all wy. requires. Then you go get a "r" endorsment on your drivers license, to get the "r" you have to take the writen motor cycle test no driving test needed that all it takes. We had to start doing this becouse Johnson county was giving out tickets for driving without a license even on the dirt roads up in the mountains, this way we get around that problem and it's handy to be able to run around on the streets like when you need fuel.
As for what states require brake lights my dealer was not posotive he thought Maine might be one. My dealer here had the parts in stock if i remember right it was between $20-$30 for the switch wich is built to be out in the elements and I picked up the light a the auto parts store.
Hope some one can give a more positive answer on what if any states require brake lights from the dealer.
