i have an 81 250r atc the ignition coil went bad and now after going through 4 before i got one to work. the thing will start easy and idle smoothly but when I give it gas it acts as it as a rev limiter at 1/8 throttle. I've tried new plugs,different cdi, coil and still no different. I've cleaned the carb put another set of reeds nothings changeing. at one point if i touched the wires it die and i found that the plug that comes from the stator the clips were wore and i tightned them and it fixed that but it still wont get more then 1/8 throttle. it was running great when it lost spark and it traced back to the stator now it has great spark but wont more then idle.. when i give it gas it acts as if its starven for fuel but when i let off it takes 30 seconds to return to smooth idle. i think if tried everything. ive been working of and on for months with this thing i could really use someones help

 

either the carbs messed up ( sunken float, bad float ajustment, needs jet adjusted, or even may need to be cleaned better) or a bad connection in a wire or bare spot in a wire causing it to arch out. could be something else ignition related.
