I'd say, you may as well get ready to purchase an ANGLE SENSOR, around $85. .

I mean, don't hold me to it, but I have had two to go out on my 02 Rubicon. .

Just my $.02 worth. .

Is this bike under warranty ...?..If so I would take it back to the dealer ..

First code #2 is "shift buttons up/down" ..Second code #6 is "ECM fail safe relay" ... You going to have to remove the front fenders and check for water/green corroded pins in the ECM 33p coupler and the green handle bar coupler .. (check all couplers while fenders are off) .. With everything clean do a code retrieval I will bet you don't get code #2 just code #6 .. If so you will have to replace the "shift control motor" then delete stored code/s and try again ..

we've replaced 3 so far all with less than 1000km on them , 1 bike was still in our compound and never sold (or near water) and the coupler pins were corroded green ..

To do a code retrieval...

Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- Place the transmission in neutral.
- Apply the parking brake so the vehicle does not move.
- Push both Upshift switch and Downshift switch.
- While pushing both switches, turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Before letter "N" appears on the gear position indicator (within
about 2 seconds), release both the shift switches, then push them
again for more than 3 seconds. The indicator "N" starts blinking
to indicate the problem code.
If the switches are not released and pushed within 2 seconds, the
code number will not appear.

If the code number could not be checked (the indicator did not
blink), repeat .

I have a 2005 Foreman 500ES and occasionally the gear indicator will flash 5 times and then it will quit and everything is fine. I know this is the ECU, any tips or pointers in what wires to check for loose connections or corrosion?

Code #5 is "ECM motor driver curcuit" you should check/clean/grease the ECM coupler & the shift control motor coupler .. Erase the code/s then re-test , if the code #5 returns I would remove the shift control motor dis-assemble it and clean the commutator bars re-assemble and test again ...

Hi, it's Dec 2015 and I purchased a 2006 Foreman 500ES earlier this year and now have gotten this 5 N blinking code which is what you talked about. How/Where do I go about getting to and cleaning the ECM Coupler. I have no idea what that part looks like or how to get to it. My Foreman cranks - it's in neutral currently... but it won't shift into gear with the up/down buttons.
Thanks for any help.
