Exhuast Rattle
Okay, I have a 2001 Honda TRX 350 4x4 with a factory muffler on yet. It has a very enoying rattle that it is just driving me nuts. With in the last year it has progressivly gottan worse. I was thinking maybe there is baffles inside that are rotting out and or something. Today I decied to take it off and shake it around to hear if there if anyting inside rattling but heard nothing. So I decied to mount it back on the quad again with out the heat sheild and suddenly it didn't rattle anymore. It sounded a little more normal but maybe not perfect.
What I don't understand is why it was rattling with the heat sheild on? It wasn't comming into contac with the frame anywhere and all the bolts that held it on where all very tight. Even the rubber on the mounts on the frame are still good.
Has anyone else had this problem before? Could it be possible stuff inside the muffer is going bad and if so would it be possible to have it cut open and tare out what ever is bad inside and still keeep the spark asster? Am I going to have any isssues if I run it with out the heat sheild?
I really don't want to buy a new muffler for it since I really don't know how much longer I plan to keep this quad.
Well any advice would be great, thanks.
