Default 2000 400ex wont start

I'm getting a little burnt out on this quad guys, its one thing after another.

Here is the deal, a few months back I posted about the same problem with my 400ex, the damn thing doesn't like to start. I used a tip that one of the members here gave me on starting it back then (full choke, 1 pump of the throttle, then crank it while barely touching the throttle), and it worked well....but now it wont start no matter what I do.

I pulled the plug and touched it against the frame to see if I was getting spark, and I was. I pulled the carb out to see if it was all gummed up and dirty, and it looked brand new. I can smell gas when I crank it over, so its getting spark and fuel. It just cranks and cranks, but wont turn over. The gas in it is only a few months old, and I filled my other quads up with the same gas at the same time....and they run fine, so I don't think its bad gas. I pulled the plug out last night and let it dry out over night just to make sure it wasn't flooded, first thing this morning I tried it, but no good....still no starting.

What is going on with this thing?

Also, after about a 5 minute battle trying to get it started, I got frustrated and went inside. I came back out about 10 minutes later and there was gas all over the floor. The drain tube for the carb (whatever its called) was spitting gas out at a steady dribble just like the screw was backed all the way out (which it wasn't). I turned the gas petcock off and drained all the fuel out of the carb by backing the screw out, and then tightened it back up, and turned the gas back on....no more leaks. It was tight in the first place, so how the heck was it leaking? The O-ring on the screw still looks new, so I don't know whats going on.

Thanks for any tips or help,

Kyle

my 400 will leak gas once in a while too. just the float getting hung up most of the time or the ethanol in the gas these days will make your needle stick and somtimes not seat all the time. i would try a compression test on your quad my self, or just pull the plug and hold your finger over the hole and see if you can feel any compression. one of your valves may not be closing causing it to not start

check your valve adjustment. tight valves can cause hard starting
