I have a 06 2 wheel drive Honda 350 Ranher. I just went through the first 5 tanks of gas and was wondering what I needed to do? The dealer told me I needed to bring it back to the shop for there oil change and lookover, suprise there. What do you guys think? I can do most small mechanical jobs, so I should be ok it if it nothing major needs to be done. What all needs to be done on the first initial checkup? Is there anything I can do to save some money? Thanks for everyones advice. Unfortunatly the guy I bought it from doesn't have the book that comes with it, so I dont know what I need to do. I was thinking about getting on ebay and buying the mechanical book to go with it also.

First thing, buy either a honda factory manual or clymers manual, read up and then decide if you feel comfortable adjusting the valves yourself. on the fluids change the oil and filter, 10w40, go with synthetic if you can swing it and change the differential fluid also. As far as what brand, everyone on this forum has their favorite, just keep watching this post, they will tell you.

Make sure you use the oil that has the additive for the wet clutch. regular motor oil breaks down. Valvoline makes a good 10w40 with that additive, usually on the shelf at advance auto parts. They have filters on the shelf too. Valves aren't too bad to adjust. It takes longer to take the plastics off to get to the valve cover.

Thats not a bad price. Dothan powersports in my hometown charges $160.00. As for the brakes, I would tell them do not touch them. I've had my 350 for almost two years and have never had the drums off and the brakes are as tight as the day I bought them. Every now and then I will take the adjuster plug out and inspect them for any rust. I've always been told that if you take the drums off the first time, they never seal back up. As you can see......I like to get off on a tangent sometimes......I'll shut up now......
