Default Need some help TRX 300

I have a trx 300 that has been in my garage for about 4 months and at one point my friend was able to pull start it but now its completely dead, no indication any power is there at all. From what I can tell, I have never done anything with ATV's except ride them. I don't think there is a battery in it, but what do I know? The only thing I have to go off of is a diagram and it's no help. Before I end up hauling it to someone to have them fix it can anyone tell me how to figure out what is going on? I would really love an online do it yourself kind of thing but for some reason cannot locate trx 300. Thanks!

Is this the old 300 utility quad, or the 300EX sport quad??? If the utility, it has a pull recoil starter.

Sounds like dead battery. It's under the seat. Test it to see if it has a charge (do the lights come on???).

The GenII OHC engines never came with recoil starters. It's does have a kickstarter however for when the battery is dead.
But to find it and get at it, you will need to removethe right side panel from the rear fenders by giving it a tug. It's the panel that has the "300" logo on it. Once removed, you will see the kick starter.

OK, kick starter...it's been a long time since I was on the old 300.

reconranger,
Been a while since I've ridden one to, although a few family members still rely on theirs and keep them up pretty well. The "tanks" are still running strong.

There's been alot of buzz with guys that work in the company that Honda may be bringing back the "300" badge for 2009, although a totally different machine than the original in every sense other than the name.
Remains to be seen if it's truth or indeed just rumors, but there does lie a huge gap between the 250 Recon and 420 Rancher that makes is feasible to suggest at the least.

I think if the farmer/ranchers around here would bury their trx300's that the dang things would dig their way back from under the dirt and still run for ever.
I have been servicing a rash of broken shift springs on the old 300's lately
