Simple question for ya -

Does the Rubicon have selectable 4X4 or is it full time?

And are all 4 wheels engaged or just 3?

Bear with me I'm still learning, Thanks

Rubicon is a full time 4x4 with a limited slip (called AP) differential-
It is supposed to offer the easy steering of a non-locked front diff, but also put power to the wheel with traction. This is a very controversial subject, but mostly is contested by non-honda owners. My Rubicon is a great quad and I have no complaints about the diff.

Owning both a Rancher and a Rubicon the only quads to have the AP differential, I will tell you that it works like a traditional limited slip. Get one tire in the air and the one on the ground doesnt move.

Us having the old style Honda's and the new Rancher and Rubicon I can tell you that the new diff does indeed pull better. You will really notice the most in hill climbs. The Rubicon and Rancher diffs work better than the old diffs but not as good as lockers.

Hey alaskaweasel how did the 400 turn those big vamps? Like the steering power etc... Nice pics on your site.

Thanks, and the 400 does a fairly good job with the 27 on it. The first gear is low enough that you can get it going in about anything. However compared to the Rubicon, not much contest. But the 400 never fails to surprise people with the torque the thing has. It's even better now with the Rubicon wheels and tires on it:-)

Later,
Scott
