I have two '07 420's and mounted the RT 25 on both. The only mod you will have to make is to grind the left corner of the platic skidplate (viewing from the front of the atv) a bit so that you will be able to engage the drive on the winch. The mount that comes with the winch will not work on a 420 so you have to buy an additional mount. You can buy them from www.gowarn.com or most any dealer. They range from 70.00 to 95.00 depending on where you buy them. Here, is a link to the mount at gowarn.com

jrafter is right about it taking some time to install one if you've never done it before. It took me while the first time and about half that the second time. If you order the mount above it will come with specific directions and photos on how to install the winch into the 420. They are much better directions than those that came with the winch. Then you refer to the manual that came with the winch for the wiring.

The only parts that you should have to remove is the bumper, front four screws of the skid plate, and the air deflector (not sure if that is the correct part name) on the radiator. You will not have to modify anything on the atv except the skid plate.

I will try to upload some pics on my profile for you to view.

jimstoltz......I posted some pics on my page for you to see the RT 25 mounted. Of course, they are all taken after the fact, but the pics show the only modification I had to make to mount the winch on both of my 420s.

Oh, since I just added them you may have to wait for them to "approved" before they are available for viewing.

You will have to ride it to see, but I'd bet you neither need more air pressure or a change in shock springs.

If I recall correctly the Rancher does not have adjustable suspension, but there may be a spring kit available if you decide it does need an upgrade.

Glad to hear you got the install done. Enjoy the new winch.

I'm looking at getting a warn winch. Will the 1.5 do the job with the rancher. The website says 300CC and above get the 2500. Is the 1.5 strong enough?
