i have heard both good and bad about superwinch. mostly bad! i was wondering if they are junk or just a couple bad experiences? i have a scrambler and am thinking of rigging up a winch. in the polaris forum they told me the difference between superwinch 1500 and the 2000 is the cable and brake on the 2000. is the 2000 worht the extra$? also could i put more cable on the 1500 that it comes with? thanks!!

I really like my T1500. It has never failed me so far. I don't think you can add cable to it though, I don't think there is enough room to wrap much more on there. We use 5000# tow ropes to make up the difference in distance.

I had a superwinch, I had nothing but trouble with mine, but most of the time it got me out of trouble when I needed it. I now have a warn winch and believe me it is worth every penny you pay for it, overall lots better than the superwinch. If I were u I would drop the superwinch and get a Warn. Just my opinion. But they are just not as "high quality" as a warn in my opinion.

The T1500 will hold more wire rope, Ursus; however, the closer the wrap is to the spool, the more pull. An auxiliary line, like you use, and 25' of cable on a T1500 works o.k. (been there, done that). Add a ****** block and then don't worry; you're riding home instead of walking.

Mudslinger85, what kind of trouble did you experience with your Superwinch?
I don't doubt you in any way; just want to know some details regarding the shortcomings you experienced with the product.
Within the last year or so, Superwinch redesigned their handlebar-mounted rocker switch and contracted with a new motor supplier; when did you obtain your Superwinch?
Thanks,
Tree Farmer

I'd have to refer you to Jack Jolly (jack@superwinch.com/860) 928-7787) at Superwinch customer service for a complete and valid answer, rpaske.

I am a fan of ANY winch that will pull me out of a jam. I have personally owned both brands (Warn and Superwinch) and each has its own drawbacks and strong points. Neither one is maintainance free! I have serviced and rebuilt both brands.
The Warn has a larger motor .9hp. and uses more current at any given pull than the Superwinch which has a.45 hp. motor. The Warn has a 136:1 ratio so it pulls a little faster than the SW which has a 153:1 ratio.
Properly used and maintained either one will serve you a long time.
