I am getting ready to race my friend on my 200sx, he has a 230 suzuki quadsport, usually when we race we are pretty much even, it is pretty much the one who gets off first has it won. are there any minor performance mods I can do to give me a little edge without having to buy anything like more than $20.00 if any. I already have to buy a spark plug, and a new gas tank so I am on a real low budget, what can I do to the motor with just tools to get a little more speed, or acceleration. I really need help on this , I really need help on this, know one arond here I have ask knows anything. PLEASE HELP.....

well if you can keep up with a 230 on the start your definetly a good rider.Ok first of all make sure the throttle is adjusted all the way out.Adjust the chain to the proper freeplay for hair more get up and go.Look at your owners manual and adjust the clucth to get a better start.for under 20 get 13 tooth front sprocket for more top speed.thats definetly what i would do even if i lost a little start.since i owned my 230 and the sx at the same time i know that a stock 200 has more top end power than the 230.you better hope that he doesn't do ANYTHING else to his quadsport such as a pipe and high compression piston or you will be way behind.air up your rear tires a little more to get them taller for more top speed.for probably around 20 dollars you could get a uni filter and rejet the carb for more flow, but thats not going to make that much of a difference

i take that back about the sprocket.don't do it.on top end in grass its barely got enough power to go in 5th gear.heres a hint on starting.put the quad in second gear and then push down the shifter.don't let it come up.if u give it some gas it shouldn't move if the clutch is adjusted right.now when your buddy says go lift up and hammer it.its a lot like having a manual clucth

Honda tends to make their airboxes pretty stingy on air intake. If you don't ride in deep water you might try taking the top off the airbox and rejetting the carb. I know my Recon needed to be jetted just making the end of the snorkel more open. I don't remember how my snorkle was set up on my 200SX. I do remember wanting to beat my friends 230 though. Good luck.

Ya keep the tires pumped up, chain tight and adjust the clutch if it needs it.
Do you have an old spark plug??...if you do, buy a new one(NGK,nothing else) their like $5, I just got a new NGK plug today, havent tried it yet.
