Foreman 500 wont idle
#1
Hi. I have a 2005 Foreman 500. I havent run her in a while. When I start her with choke, it idles fine. Turn the choke off and she dies. It happens only at idle...if I give her gas when starting normally she'll run but take my hand off the throttle and shes dead
Any idea's of whats going on for a not so mechanically inclined individual?
Thanks in advance....

Lots of posts like this lately!!!
If it sat a while, fuel probably dried up in the carb and crudded up your slow (idle/pilot) jet. You need a good carb cleaning, and pay particular attention to the slow jet!
For a quick fix, you can trun the idle up a little (idle stop screw), and maybe mess with the fuel screw (it fine tunes the slow jet) for a little increase in fuel flow....but ultimately you need to clean that carb!
Cold weather might be making it run a little lean as well.

Yep, the pilot jet is blocked.
To prevent this from happening again, just make sure the gas valve on the gas tank is turned to off, when ever the quads is gonna sit for more than a hour.
Its even better, if you turn the gas valve to off, and then let the motor run until it dies. This way the gas in the float bowl cant dry out, refill, dry out, refill, and so on for months at a time. All that evaporation, leaves deposits.
