Default No Lights of 400EX

1-24-08, snow here in Western PA. I take out the 400 and for safety turn on my lights, they come on for one second and then go out. If pressure is put on the headlight switch, the lights would come back on, only to go out again if pressure was released. About a month ago when I turned the lights on they flickered but remained constant after about three seconds. I am to assume that the switch has just gone bad. Should I consult my dealer and pay dearly for the part, or by it off Ebay and install it myself? How hard is the replacement? How much will a new switch cost? Any good place to buy one? Thanks, B.J.

I find little parts like switches to be very inexpensive. Doesn't cost you anything to go to the dealer and ask, does it....

SHS has the switch set for 62.97. The install would include putting the new unit on the handlebars, and connecting two color coded connectors. It shouldn't be that hard to replace. I should specify that the connectors themselves are not color coded. But the wires are.
