Im sure their good all the time.Keep your feet safe, and if you get stuck in the mud it gives you more levearage to rock it=)

whatever you do, don't get alloy. I can't even step on mine without the darn things bending down a little. Pretty soon the cheap a-munchers are going to break off.

I've got alloy on my 250X and they have worked great!I can't count the number of times they have saved my butt when my feet slip off on big jumps. Also nerfs have lots of uses on the trail. They keep sticks from hitting you and your feet on the pegs when it's wet.

Nerf Bars were intentionally designed for racers. They were made so that when you are in a tight race, another competitor cannot get to your peg, and accidentally flip you. Nerf Bars are a great investment for Racers, and Recreational Sport riders. The do give you more leverage(sp?) and they also help if you're in tight woods. Keeping sticks, and other debris from your feet. I can step on my AC alloy Nerfs, and the peg will bend, before the alloy. A friend of mine has a 400ex with DG alloy's, and he can jump on them, and NOTHING bends. One more of my experiences, My rear wheels/tires are wider than my fronts.. if I get over next to a tree on a tight trail, and the fronts will go through.. sometimes the rear tires are too wide. The nerfs will push the bike over just enough to clear, without scratching you wheel. Just my 2 cents

No offense but the problem is in the DG nerf bar. If you would have Bought Graydon or AC, you wouldn't have that problem.

I race some cross country and do a lot of trail riding.(soon will be racing TT)
They help alot int he woods in tight areas and between tight trees. Instead of a tree getting you hung up between the tires, the nerf bars allow you to "slide" around them without getting hung up.

I got my AC's from my local honda shop, for 145 bucks. Not too bad, in my opinion. They do require some drilling in the peg and out the holes, but I fell that this just ensures a tighter fit. Oh, also I wouldn't get the pro-peg version unless I was racing. With the standard AC alloys, you can keep the black boot guard on the 400ex, which is always nice.
