ok its fixed.......LOL........Too embarrased to tell you that it was the fuse had gotten dislodged and was loose therefore the flickering lights and all the other problems.....Well at least I learned how to catch it in gear to start it! Man i feel stupid....have been a mechanic for over 10years lol......built 3 race vehicles already!! Oh well live and learn! Funny thing is i carried extra fuses with me in case i shorted the one that was in there lol.

Yes you can use a car battery to jump, but make sure the motor on the car isnt running. If it is, the alternator can be pputting out 15 or more volts, and the quad starter wont take that for very long.

 

fastfive0 that's nothing compared to what my brother did last month to his 91' GMC Serria pickup , it has the dual fuel tank's he blew a fuse for his Radio ; he then changed fuses with another one in the fuse box !

Then the next day he went out to go to the local general dollar store and the truck wouldn't start , so he called me to come over and take him to get gas for the truck and his van i took him to the nearest store where he filled a five gallon gas jug ; then took him back home where he poured half in the truck and half in the van !

Then he ran the battery down on the van and almost ran the battery down trying to get the truck to start , i told him to prime it and when he primed it about 3 time's it caught on fire in the throddle body ; he started trying to stuff an old jaket in the throddle body to put it out !

I yelled at him to put the breather cover back on the throddle body , and this put out the fire then we drove back to the station where he refilled the jug again ; then back to his house where he poured 3/4 of the fuel in the truck's tank again and still no start !

Then he reminded me he had to replace a blown fuse to the radio , the day before ; i ask him where did you get the fuse ?

He told me he just changed places with another fuse in the fuse box , i told him to either put in a new one (which he didn't have any) or change the fuses back the way they were , after he did this it fired right up ; he had taken out the blown fuse and exchanged it with the one that went to the electric fuel pump !

This brother of mine is the type that put's a few gallon's of fuel at a time even though he has the money to keep it filled up , i've told him for year's he would get better gas mileage if he kept the tank topped off ; but he will ride untill he run's out of gas then call me or who ever he can get to bring him some fuel !

He ran out of gas 2 night's in a row already this month alone , and the first time it was dark and snowing when he called me to come get him and take him for gas ; and when i got there he ask me if i had a gas jug with me ?

I had to go back home and get a gas jug then stop and fill the jug , and take it back to where he was sitting in his van ; and it was cold down in the teen's and he called me the very next night telling me he had ran out of gas again !

I thought he was only joking , i kept telling him to stop kidding me and i wasn't coming to his rescue again ; untill my one of my younger brother's came down to my house to tell me Randall wasn't kidding he was really out of gas again and that he would go get the gas and take it to him if i would let him borrow my gas jug !

I told steve to take it and go get randall some gas and take it to him , i'm a bilateral amputee ( both leg's off just below the knee's) and i can get around walking on my knee's with a set of knee pad's i made myself ; but randall has to use an electric wheelchair if he has to walk over 5 yrd's i just don't know about the boy !

I really gave him a ear full the first time i had to go out in the snow that night , trying to remind him that this running out of gas was the very reason i only have leg's just below the knee's ; me and my brother Dan were trying to help a friend push his Dad's Classic 1958 Chevy Impala 2 door hardtop that looked and drove like it had just rolled out of the show room floor of a Chevy Dealership !

This happened in 1975 when i was less than a month and a half from my 22nd birthday , so this kind of tick's me off when anyone who has the money in their pocket drive past a dozen stores that sell gas ; and try's to take it to the limit just to see how far they can get before they run out of gas !

Sorry i got carried away there , but i just had this urge all of a sudden to tell how my brother and alot of people do this while i still have these awfull stinging burning phatom pain's where i can still feel my feet and ankle pain's to this day ; all because we ran out of gas !.........
