Default Help!! Identify this sound and win a prize!

Got a 2003 foreman s that has a problem. Every time I shut it off it sounds like an airplane or something slowing down and it seems to be coming from the front of the engine. It's a winding noise that gradually slows down and often stops with a clunk. Also ONLY when it's cold and ONLY when it's in gear it makes a knocking noise under light acceleration until the clutch fully engages. Could these two problems be related? BTW there is no prize! Thanks.

It has two sprag clutches correct? one in front of engine and one in the rear? Should I go ahead and replace both or is the front one the only one? Thanks.

Yes there are 2 sprags ..1 is in the centrifugal clutch and is mainly for compression braking which you don't notice on a Rubicon because the hydrostatic transmission works as a brake when the wheels try to turn faster than the engine ..

The second sprag is in the starter clutch which is for the electric starter ..

Awww crap, someone answered already.

Just as well, I was gonna say the sound of a tree falling in the forest with no one around. Or, the sound of one hand clapping.
