i flipped my 99 3 times down the side of a hill. pulled the handle bars back in place and cranked right up and went ridin with my friends a few minutes later. had to pause for a few minutes tho. i was kinda shakey after it. nearly got crushed by it, but when it threw me off i went in a rut and it went right over. never been so scared on it before.

I see plenty of em but rarely ever for sale. That's a legendary machine, and I cuss every time I think about how I sold my 97. As far as upgrades, there's the usual exhaust, k&n filter, and rejetting the carb. A big bore kit can be had from several places I'm sure, if you want even more out of it. Don't think there's a cam available, at least not from what I remember. I know if I had one again I'd throw an oil cooler on it and good 25" tires up front with 26s in the back.
If you want to make a mud-diggin monster out of it, there's a few people modifying them with a gear reduction from 300ex parts. Not a job for an amateur, but it's worth it if you want a 300 that'll spin the really big tires well.

Hey guys thanks for the replies.
I have been lookin at a cobra utility quiet series exhaust for it, hopefully it will give it a little more oompf. ha. It is a very reliable machine, I guess i can feel lucky that I have a little bit of atv history haha. Heres the link for the pipe, if anyone wants to take a peek at it. Here's the link

man you dont need a new exhaust on it. mine sounds pretty freakin good with a ton of mud on the pipe and muffler. the more mud the better plus i makes it quiet. but dont let it do like mine did. i was goin down the road and all of a sudden it got 4 times louder. i got off and looked at it and the muffler was hangin down on the axle. the bolt that holds it in place fell out somewhere and i guess it gettin hot and cold really quick from ridin it in the winter made the pipe break. but for real mine got a little bit quieter when i started puttin fuel cleaner and carb cleaner stuff in it. not a whole lot but enough that i can notice it.

Hey Sprenger
You were asking about upgrades. Personally, I'd recommend the first thing you do, if it hasn't been done already, is get rid of the stock trash rubber and put some serious tires on the bike, before you consider anything else. The factory jobs are pretty much good for trail riding and not much else, and nothing will improve the capability of your machine better than some good sneakers. I got my hands on a nice new set of ITP Maxx Traxx (even though they don't make em anymore), which pretty much were tailor made for this bike - they're light, have a simple but serious tractor tread and since I put them on I haven't gotten stuck, ever. I'd also recommend the Mud Lites by ITP. Just stick close to the stock sizes so you don't mess with the gearing of the bike.
