coffee lookin oil

Default coffee lookin oil

today i helped my friend change his oil because it his first time and when i drained the oil it looked like coffee and the oil filter had lots of metal shaveings on it
i was planning to go show the oil filter to honda and see wat they will do and say
wat do u think i should do

Are you saying this was the original oil that it came with??? How many hours did he go before the oil change (or since the last oil change)???

Check the shavings to see if they are magnetic. If so, they are steel, if not they may be aluminum or sometimes clutch fibers.

yes it was the original oil that came with it the bike is brand new . the bike had 10 hours on it

you may see a few fines in the first oil change. Keep a sample but you should be ok. What kind of break in did he do?
My rhino had off color oil when I picked it up.I made them change it . My sample showed water in it. The only thing we could think of was moisture in the water from setting in our damp pacific weather.

IF you have oil that is milky (say coffee with cream in it) then you have water in the oil, either you have a seal letting water in, or the bike was driven in deep enough water to get alot in the airbox which then went into the crank case. If the bike is under warranty send it in to the dealer with a sample of the oil you took out.

you will not belive this we brought the oil and oil filter to honda and they looked at it and said to bring the bike in so we did and u know wat happen they gave my friend a brand new bike they dident even tell us the problem with the other one

yeah i know what ur talkin about and the people at honda really told me that the bike was a lemon and there were going to give my friend a new bike
