87TRX350 intermittant spark
1987 TRX 350 4X4. When cranking, it will fire through the exhaust and try to run, but dies. With nothing changed, it will start up and run perfectly. It will cut off while riding and backfire through the exhaust while cranking. It is not flooding. Carb is rebuilt-no improvement. All electrical connections I can get to are good. The pulser BLU/YEL wire to ground is 345 ohms. When cranking, the pulser wire measures .552VAC to ground. When running the pulser to ground reaches 3.4VAC at high RPMs. Battery volts when cranking is 10.5V and when running reaches 14.3V. The fan control module does not work and it is now disconnected. This didn't change the starting problem. I don't know what wires do what coming into the ignition module. What can I eleminate by disconnecting/grounding at the module? What is a good resistance reading for the coil? New plug did not help. I don't know what to replace first. Engine has good compression and runs fine when it is running right. Thanks for any help.

i had a simmilar problem with mine. the pulse generator was intermittnt. some times it will pick up sometimes it wont. the atv would sometimes run great for about an hour and then start dieing. it slowly started geting worse and worse now it wont even start. took the cover off pulled the pulse generator out. hoked the meter up to it and taped on it resistance went from 316ohms to 600 to open and down to 100 it was all over the place. i will have a new one in this weekend and let you know how it works
