Don't Ever Buy HONDA!!!!

Just a little info, K&N filters let in more dust than a Uni filter.
After you get your quad repaired you may want to think about switching the kind of filter you use.

I just bought a new Rancher 420 from Southern Honda, and I DID NOT buy the warranty. I know that there's not an extended warranty out there worth the paper it's printed on.
Stuff breaks, I've been there. It sucks but it's just the way it goes sometimes. I hope you get it worked out. I wil say Hondas have a better reputation for holding up than just about anything.

So let me see, you have an engine problem that could possibly be caused by dirt entering the engine. A very common place for dirt to enter the engine is through the airfilter.
So then you tell us that you have intalled a K&N airfilter with an outerwear. Now, this is obvioulsy not a stock part, and now you expect Honda to cover your engine after you removed the very part they they installed at the factory to prevent dirt from entering the engine?
Sorry, but your up the creek on this one. Install a K&N and take your chances, there's TONS of documentation on the net that shows that although K&N filters flow better but they do let more particles into the engine.
I have a K&N on my bike and I notice improved performance, but I understand the risk of having a filter installed that does not protect as well as the stock foam piece, or even an aftermarket foam unit.

Red400EXRod I have read these post's about people talking about how much more proformance using these K&N filter's even though they have the thin outerware foam filter , they think it's going to be as safe as the Original or uni filter's that come from the factory ; and i've bitten my tough to keep from stiiring up a honet's nest !
Any air filter that will give the engine more airflow and better proformance is going to let more dirt particiial's to get into the air intake , i'm not trying to suck up to anyone for agreeing with you about the K&N Air Filter's ; i'm talking from oner 20 year's of experiance in the Small Engine Service And Repair Industry !
My experiance started in lawn and garden equipment , and anyone who's worked on these type of engine's know's that they get more abuse than any type of air cooled engine ; these K&N Air Filter's or put on Classic Auto's and racing machine's that never see a dirt road or mudding !
They're for Show and drag racing on paved track's , and the Show car's you see at Classic Car Show's never see dirt either ; most of these Classic hot rod's and dragster's are hauled in enclosed trailer's for protection enroute to and from these show's to keep from getting dirt on them !
And these mud machine's are snorkled to keep out the mud , dirt and water ; and even these quad's don't last as long as a stock well maintained machine so i'll shut up before i stir up the hornet nest that will surely come from my reply !
Have good one , and may GOD Bless everone on the forums !......

The extended warranty I purchased was from Honda. It is called HondaCare. It should be called HondaDon'tCare. I cashed it out today by the way. I urge others to do the same and save your refund for when you need repairs. You will pay for the repairs anyway I assure you. I would also like to point out that the Magnuson-Moss Act of 1975 states that you can replace factory filters with aftermarket filters and not void your warranty. I didn't expect any of you people who love Honda to all of a sudden start hating on them. I promise you this, if you continue to buy Honda your day will come just like mine did. This is also the last time I will repeat this, so for those of you who obviously aren't reading the entire post before they respond.....HONDA DIRECTLY (NOT THE DEALER!!!!!!!!) TOLD ME I PERSONALLY NEEDED TO AUTHORIZE EXTREME POWER SPORTS TO TEAR DOWN MY ENGINE, (SO THEY COULD HANG ME WITH THE BILL) WHEN THEY FOUND SCRATCHES IN THE CYLINDER!! WELL OBVIOUSLY THERE IS GONNA BE SCRATCHES, ITS BEEN IN THE DIRT AND MUD FOR 18 MONTHS. I DON'T CARE HOW MANY OIL CHANGES YOU DO OR WHAT KIND OF AIR FILTER YOU RUN. IF YOU TAKE IT IN THE DIRT & MUD FOR 18 MONTHS TURNING HIGH RPMS YOU'RE GONNA GET SCRATCHES. I PROMISE YOU HONDA KNOWS THAT!!!! THAT IS WHY THEY WANTED ME TO AUTHORIZE IT!!!!

I was also informed by a supervisor from Honda that the extended warranty is only intended to extend your limited factory warranty. The only thing their warranty covers is factory defects. This means after a certain period of time has passed (To Be Determined by Honda) part failures are no longer considered factory defects. They are considered abuse & neglect. Which in turn means you pay for repairs. Apparently for me it was 18 months. The extended warranty is for people who purchase a bike and aren't gonna be able to ride it until after their factory warranty has expired. Which kinda puzzles me as to why I was able to purchase a 42 month extension (who the hell buys something and lets it sit for 4 years). Anyway it is all just B.S.
