I was in 5th gear and the #5 was flashing 8 times in each set.I turned off the bike and when I turned it back on I could shift down O.K. 10 min later it did it again.(some slush on th road) After that it was ok until I preasure washed it 2 day's later. This time it flashed ( N ) 8 times while in neutral. I'm sure water is my problem but what should I do ??Please help.

Pressure washers causes lots of problems. It forces high pressure water where it shouldnt be..like past seals and covers, and into electrical connections.
8 flashes is for the angle sensor system, most likely there is water in the connectors at the front side of the motor. Disconnect all the connectors at the front of the motor...one at a time. Dry them out, if nothing else, just sitting in the warm sun should do it, and then make sure the connections are clean and shiny, and not dull or corroded. Then apply dielectric grease to both sides of the connections, and reconnect them.
This should fix the problem, but if it doesnt, just reply back to this thread.
