400ex questions
#1
Im about to pick up either an 03 or 04 400ex
(the 03 is stock and 2500obo and is really clean the 04 has a pipe and nerf bars forsure includes a trailer and is 2800obo) however guessing from the modded one its probably been ridden harder and may have more mods im unaware of..
ANYWAY..basically are the prices good which would u choose FIRST
secondly..knowing the 400ex's are aircooled..and ive been readin a lot about them lately(havent been into this stuff since i was 15 and mainly it was dirt bikes)
so ive read that they tend to get hot on trail rides when ur not riding that fast..
my question is can u install maybe an electric fan to keep it cool on slow rides(itd be on a switch) or has anyone done this etc..
just some curiousity..

If the 400ex is stock, and the engine isnt covered in mud, and its moving(so air is flowing )...dont worry about overheating. It was designed to handle it. If however the motor has mods, and especially if the compression has been raised....dont idle it much, and it should be ok.

i understand that..but can it be done or has it? just for "security" i mean a fan is not expensive at all and should be relatively easy to install...
also id assume that helping cool the engine would make it even more reliable in the long run..

Probably the best place would be on the oil radiator, kind of like on the honda utes. You could also just buy the whole radiator and fan asssembly off ebay, for like a 450 foreman, and it would add capacity too.
