oil light remains on

The oil light on my ATV 250 Four Trax remains on. The engine has oil. Any ideas what is wrong?

I am new to quads and have only owned a 400EX for a few weeks now. BUT... I know you can put the oil filter in backwards and cut off oil flow to the engine. Have you changed the oil recently or tried a new filter & oil ?
