In the Dirtwheels 450 shootout, the Honda (tied with the Yamaha) had the best acceleration and the best top speed!!! The Honda had the best low end torque!!! You put on an HRC kit, and mid to top speed is going to be even greater...

My buddies who are duners (die hard old Banshee guys who were probably duning before you were born) have passed up everything else and all flocked to the 450R! I'm more of a desert cross-country guy, and it is the king of long distance desert endurance racing (if you aren't on the Honda you probably won't even finish, much less win), so there was never any other choice even possible for me....

I'm no MX'er so I won't comment on that, but it will need some mods...just like everything except maybe the Suzuki.

TRX450R with an HRC...only way to ride! Ride Red. I haven't ridden the YFZ but I hear they are pretty sweet as well, but I stil like my R better.

The R is the way to go. I also read the 450 shoot out sounds like either the YFZ or the R would be a good choice. I would go with honda on that one though because their bullet proof.
On the track the YFZ is set up a little better. The 2008 models have a better suspention plus they sit a little wider I believe.

both yfz and 450r are great bikes. i whould say get the yfz if you like to jump alot and get the 450r for long desert rides. both are good on the track.

no i looked at the specs and the r is actually .2 inches wider then the yfz....and i deff want reliability but i will invest in A-arms and shocks to race....but i also hear the yfz has to be rebuilt pretty often and the valves have to be adjusted alot due to the 5-valve motor.... and i hear that it has a problem with cold start
