I heard all the I can go anywhere in 2 wheel drive when I bought my first ATV. 95 % of the time that is true, it is the 5 % that sucks. I would not buy 2wd again for me. I have 2wd for my wife and daughter, but invariably, hunting, or my buddies will get me somewhere where you need 4wd. I made sure I got it on my latest purchase.

if you plan on pulling something then get 4 wheel drive otherwise 2 wheel will get you anywhere you need just the ground clearance seems to get you stuck.

I disagree with people saying 2wd will get in the same places as 4wd. I seen places where 2wd atvs couldn't get where the 4x4 just went on by. I'd never get 2wd

The 2wd utilities are more capable than people think they are. Their huge advantage is the front end is lighter...weight over that front axle is where it does the most harm. But...sometimes you just need 4wd.

The Foreman is more of a work quad, and the Rancher is more of a trail quad, but keep in mind that a 4wd machine will always have better resale. If all you want to do is haul some deer out of the woods each fall and you can get away with 2wd....

maybe in the desert they are not as challenged, but snow season and wet season will prevent a 2wd from going where I go in 4wd (with ease). 2wd is fun, but having the front axle pull is invaluable in many places around here. most guys just put their 2wd sport away from the 1st snow until the ground firms up again in the late spring. Owning both 2wd and 4wd, I know the difference. Yes, you may be able to get most places, during most of the year, but there is a huge difference in the ease, speed, and abuse the machines sees to get through a foot of snow or mud.

I do fine with my 2WD 420 but I also don't take my quad places that requires 4WD to cross. It rarely snows where I ride and the trails are usually hard packed dirt, gravel or solid conglomerate lava.

Also a 4WD will hold it's resale value better then a 2WD so if you are planning on selling it later go 4WD.

sadly he choose the foreman for the extra 50 cc's

The 350 Rancher is not the 420 Rancher its like a 146cc ,but if it was the 420 I would agree.
