Help with 2000 Rancher es

Default Help with 2000 Rancher es

I have a 2000 Rancher es 2 wheel drive that is stuck in 5th gear and wont gear back down to neutral.It was parked in 5th gear and now will not work.It was working fine before parked.I have tried the electric shift and the manual shifter from the box in the back and it does noyhing.you can hear it trying to shift but it wont.I have tried shaken it back and forth and it still wont work.Does anybody have any ideas what this can be is this an issue that happens to alot of ranchers.any help would be great.

okay i dony believe its going to be the angle sensor, because it seems the manual shift would by-pass it.its probably the shift plate .could anyone send me some information on where this is located like some material from the service manual and maybe someone knows hard it is to replace this.also do you think this could be a motor assembly control problem

sounds like shift plate or the drum tip i had both those break and could only gear up could not gear down it cost me about 125 to get it fixed at a honda dealership.

thanks for the reply do you know if this plate is located in the clutch or transmission
when i look for the part at babbits online i see alot of plates but nothing that says shift plate are there more than one or just one

Not sure i didn't do the repair i just took it to the shop from what they were telling me i think you take the lef side of engine apart but its been about a year sence i had mine fixed.

ok let me ask you this if the shift plate is the problem and there was a recall on it should they still take care of the recall even though it was 8 years ago i bought the atv brand new and its never been fixed for a recall

They wont least thats what they told me my shift plate hadet been replaced but my drum tip had they said i was a few years to late but you could try worth a shot.
