I think the polaris peaple need to stay out of the Honda forum! So go back to Polaris with your mild steel frame and cheap square tubing! Oh I wouldnt get started on prices cause Polaris is the most overpriced atv you could ever buy!

Didn't you know HonduManMyers...all Polaris owners are rich and we just love to waste our money on crappy over-prices quads. I basically get a new Scrambler every 2 months. I do keep the seat and just switch it from the old quad to the new one.

Give us your opinion when you own a quad !

I use to have a 97 Scrambler 500 and it was the biggest piece of junk I've ever owned. It tore up every time you took it riding and stayed in the shop more than it did my garage.I traded it for my EX400 about a year ago and have never looked back.

I raced a 400EX with my friends 400 Xpress it beat the 400 EX easily. Also no way an EX will keep up with a 500 4x4 Scrambler in the woods. maybe on dry flat wide turns and all that, but any mud slippery slopes and that kind of thing and the Scrambler will make fast work of the EX seen it with my own eyes. but i suppose it depends on the terrain on which the machines will be used. I know in Maine with the type of trails we have the Scramblers 4x4's rule over EX's. I seriously doubt any one stock vs stock is going to spank a 400 or 500 Scrambler. At least I have never seen it happen. Funny same thing with me my Two Polaris machines have ran better than the Honda and the Yamaha's I have before it. I tried Yamaha not bad but not great , every one said get Honda bought one YUCK is all I can say. not sure how you guys can rave about there 4x4's. I had allot of problems with it sold it in total disgust tried a Polaris and WOW! power comfort and the 4x4 label was not a lie! it really has 4x4.

xepathfinder,

Although I agree that it depends on what kind of terrain you ride, I have a very hard time believing that an Xpress 400 can beat a 400EX. I have a Polaris 400 4x4, which has basically the same engine as an Xpress 400, and there is no contest. And like I said in my previous post, I've easily beaten a Sport 400. Take into consideration that even with second gear starts on a 400EX, you have to worry about looping out, so for the first 10 or so feet, you have to hold back a little.

Lol at xepathfinder. A 400EX will spank(and i mean spank) a 400 or 500 scrambler or sport or whatever polaris changes the name to every year. Top speeds are pretty close, but the 400EX out accelerates the Polaris so much, that the Polaris will never make up any ground. Ride red, don't buy a couch-on-wheels.

xepathfinder,I read your post, and some of the things you write do not make sense. You first say "I raced a 400EX with my friends 400 Xpress it beat the 400 EX easily", which means that YOU, YOURSELF have done it, right? Then later you say "I seriously doubt", if YOU really(?)did it you would more likely have said "I know for a fact", wouldn't you? I seriously doubt that you seen it or did it!
As far as the Polaris beating an EX in the woods, those woods would have to have A TON OF MUD, A TON OF SLOP, AND A TON OF RAIN before any Polaris out run a 400ex in the woods! You need to look at my post above, I don't see Polaris listed anywhere!
I am not trashing your bike, Polaris makes a nice bike, I just hate it when the owners come in here trying to prove something they can't. They are what they are, a fun sport bike, nothing more. In the racing and sport bike industry, the Polaris bikes do not excel, or superseed in any catagory, not power, not handling, not top speed and most of all not power to wieght ratio's. If the Scramblers can beat up on an EX, as you say "Easily", why aren't all the pro racers racing them? Every magazine shootout, and all the race reports, clearly show the Polaris sport qauds are not up to snuff with the rest of the HP qauds. They are TOO HEAVY to keep up! Get out of Polaris land and come to Earth. When you say "I beat a 400ex EASILY", the real world wants to know the real details, like "was the ex in gear?", "was his 6yr old nephew riding the EX?", ect...! Get real, if you did beat a 400ex with any Polaris, something happened to the EX.
I am soo sick of Polaris owners saying they beat a 400ex(or any other HP quad), get us some facts to prove it! Race results, video tape ect... anything!

As my name aplies I have a 500 4x4 scrambler and have rode with a groupe of 300ex's a couple of times. I got spanked hard. Granted I am not a super great rider but I am not that bad that rider skill played much of a part in it. The only place a scrambler would win out is in snow or mild mud. The scrambler is just way to heavy to make it competitive in the world of 2 wheel drive sports. It is however the sportiest 4x4 made in my opinion, and would probably spank most if not all other 4x4's out there on the average trail.
