Help..Warn1.5 winch wont fit on 07 Honda Rancher
For any one that's interested. I tried to install the multi-mount warn hitch (69058) on my 07 Rancher tonight, and there is no way it will fit, neither the front nor the rear. The warn catalog list the same kit for 2004-2008. The catalog does list a different mount for the regular front mount for 2004-2006 and 2007-2008. I emailed Warn, but don' t expect a reply until at least tommorrow.

Jrafter,
That's exactly what it was like, switch could flip about 1/2 way and then hit frame. It would freespool a little and then the switch would flip back down. Anyway, I'm returning mine and going to a 2.5. Warn said it's the only winch that will truely fit the 420 w/o rubbing etc. I almost left it as is, but the wife said to go ahead and get the bigger one with synthetic rope and I wasn't going to argue with her...LOL.
Will post pics when it arrives and I install it. You will probably see another post from about mounting the @#$%^& 2.5 winch... LOL.

Coursey,
I may ask you some questions once I start to install the 2.5 winch if thats ok.</end quote></div>
Just let me know if you need help.
For the red wire on your toggle switch there is a factory plug (That is not used for anything) you can tap into wih out cutting any wires. it is on the radiator shroud an the passenger side.up by the head light.

The plug is there to provide voltage for an accessory voltage outlet. As Coursey said you could wire the winch controls to that plug. However, that would allow the winch to be inadvertently operated when the ignition is turned off. If this is of no concern then you should connect the red wire there. If you would prefer the winch to operate only with the ignition on then you could wire it to the ignition. I wired mine to the back of the ignition. It's a little more difficult, but it's not that bad. Also, attaching it to the back of the ignition allows you to avoid a "large" wiring harness that you have to dig into as well as the risk of cutting other wires.
jrafter, if you can't find the plug let me know and I'll take a picture and post it on here for you.
