Default foot brake issues

my 4 wheeler has been sitting up for a couple of years because of a broken shift plate .I have just fixed it and i am finding many more problems. The brake at your foot is stuck you can not pull it up or down can anyone lead me in the right direction to fix this.

cable could have rusted and seized. You might free it with some penetrating oil, but if it has rusted badly it eventually will fail. Probably good idea to replace it.

The one on the Recon I just bought had the same problem. The lever is rusted to the frame. I'm not sure how yours is attached but I had a cotter pin holding mine on and I had to use a pulley puller (you can rent one from most automotive supply stores if you don't have one). I would try putting some penetrating oil on it and see if that frees it up or not.

Default foot brake issues

I had my foot brake get stiff, I took it apart, the cable was fine, but the lever was stuck on the frame. I removed the cotter pin and washer, pulled and cursed the lever off, cleaned and lubed the pivot point and now its good as new.
