Help on Honda Recon Pullstart
#1
Hey...I have a Honda Recon 250, and I was riding and my ATV shut off earlier. I tried to pullstart it, and the rope came out, but it's not retracting back in. The ATV started again, but I dont know what to do to fix this. I dont have any knowledge of taking it apart, being that i've never done it. Is there a quick fix Ican do to retract the rope back inside?

I think thats the inevitable fate of all recoil starters, after time they just sit there with their tongue hanging out. The problem always seems accelerated by non-usage.
You can try tapping the housing with a hammer, or repeatedly tugging the rope, maybe running the motor for a bit will vibrate it loose and it will go back in. odds are though the spring and pulley are rusted and/or dirty and its sticking while trying to wind the rope back in. The only sure fix is to take that sucker off and clean it out.
