If you go with something like a 416 bore and a higher compression piston on a 400ex and you have a machinist that knows what he's doing cut your sleeve out and hone it to 87mm you should be fine, if you or your mechanic know how to put it together and break it in. In my opinion reliability equates to quality craftsmanship. A whole @$$load of wiseco pistons cant be wrong. I would buy a honda and mod it over a suzuki any day of the week. But that's just my opinion.

well i reccemend 2005 or newer because of reverse. i bought all my stuff from craigslist if you look enough you can find some reel good deals. i put a slip on exhaust(fmf powercore4), jetting kit(fmf),good set of tires( maxxis razr2's), gear it, 416 big bore kit( no bigger or you'll be rebuildin' it every other ride), stage 2 hotcam. after that you'll be set.

i only run my with lid off because of my pipe and jet and filter but if u got a stock filter then i would leave the lid on or drill holes in the lid.. but i can realy tell the difference when my lid is on i went riding last weekend with lid on and it had a different tone on my exhaust and it was over revving a lot and bogging down!!! so i am not gonna do that ne more lol..

Take a look here - www.powroll.com
You can shop around several places to price this stuff. Under the tech guru section of this site they offer advice on where to start with jet sizes based on common engine mods with stock carbs.
