do tires **usually** come with the rims?

also i have an 06 honda recon... and need new back tires..

wat would you suggest?

i ride in my back yard dirt and grass
i ride trails and some mudholes

This is the exact size it says on the tire......AT 22x10-9<-- i dont know what the AT or -9 stands for
would they fit? would it loose alot of power this IS COMPLETELY STOCK

its only 2x4 if i had a 4x4 it would be alot of mudholes

They also suposodly way 23 pounds each?
would that slow a recon down alot since they weigh a bunch?

You can buy tires seperately, or rims seperately. A lot of mail order places will sell them mounted and give you a better deal.

9" is the rim diameter, and that is the only number you have to get exactly the same.

The little Recon doesn't really have any power to spare. You need low end power more than top end speed, so staying with a 22" tire makes sense. Sure, a taller tire will get you a little more ground clearance, but the price will be a loss of power!

Get some 22X11-9 MudLites......but they might tear up the yard???

 

i just ordered some bear claws for my 420. with all the research i did they seem to be an all around good tire for trail and mud riding. mudlites (to me) seem alittle aggressive for trail riding. just do a search cos this is the most talked about subject.

I've got 25's on my recon and it does fine. Of course they're not 6ply like most of the ones y'all are talking about so maybe that makes a difference.

no none of those other tires will fit, and rockymountainatv.com is the best and cheapest way to get tires, if i were you i would call them instead of ordering online. ITP mudlites are very good, and maybe some kenda exacutionors. and with RMA you can get a package deal with the tires and wheels or just tires.

The ply rating is a measure of the general thickness of the tire. It doesn't necessarily mean there are that many layers of rubber used to make the tire, but a six ply will be thicker and heavier than a two, three or four ply tire. This makes it more durable, hold its shape a little better under lateral stress and gives it more resistance to being punctured - very important, in trail riding, especially where there are rocks, small cut tree stumps and what not.

The factory tires on the Recon are crappy general purpose two ply. My brother has one, and those things were good for nothing, except going in a straight line on hard pack. Take comfort in ANYTHING you buy will be a vast improvement.

Not sure why you'd need new rims. Are the ones you have banged up, or are you just looking to replace them with something that looks better? It would be cheaper probably to just buy the tires and have a garage swap out the tires for you.

Your name is mudbOgger but you don't do a bunch of mudding just trail riding.....I think you can see why we might have assumed the opposite!

I'll tell you what my trail riding experinece has been. When my Recon needed tires, I did all the research and ended up with another set of the same stock tires....seeing the first set lasted me 5 years with no problems.
