Default A question about snorkeling a TRX 500

My neighbor owns an 07 TRX 500 FM and installed a snorkel of his own design on it yesterday. He used 1 1/2" pvc pipe and now he is having problems with performance. He claims it has less power.
Does ne need to rejet his carb or install a larger diameter pipe?
He thinks it's getting too much airflow but I tend to think maybe not enough air flow.

I know nothing about this and he sure doesn't.

Any info is greatly appreciated!

first check to see how big the stock snorkel going into the airbox is....if its 1 1/2 he should be good

also did he rejet it.....more air means a little more fuel

how many bends does he have in it......

are there any leaks

As for rejetting.....he hasn't as of yet. The snorkel has approx six bends, four ninety degrees and two forty-five degrees.

The snorkel comes out on the right side at orginal air intake, goes through two 90s and then through the two 45s and up to the front of the front rack, up for approx 2 feet then 90 back towards the rear.

Thanks for the reply.

thats how many 90s i used.

does he have any other mods pipe anything like that

if its stock and he pulled the baffle make him put it back in

also make sure it does leak put your hand over the snorkel and see how long it take to kill the motor...should take about 10 secs or so

He does have a different exhaust on the machine.
I did put my hand over the intake of the snorkle and it took what seemed less than 10 seconds to stall the motor out.

I'll pass on the info that you have given so far!

Thanks again!

rejetting in would be a good thing....start out 1-2 sizes bigger and go from there

I didnt have to rejet on my 450 foreman, most ATV's are jetted kinda rich from the factory for longevity.
